Line of Duty Death - January 26, 1981
The Winter Garden Fire Rescue Department solemnly honors the life and service of Engineer Stewart Baker, who passed away in the line of duty on January 26, 1981, at the age of 50. Firefighter Baker suffered a fatal heart attack while operating a fire engine at a house fire in Tildenville. Despite the immediate efforts of paramedics on the scene, he was pronounced at the hospital. His dedication, bravery, and commitment to serving the Winter Garden community will never be forgotten.
In Memoriam: Engineer Omar Martinez

Line of Duty Death - May 25, 2009
The Winter Garden Fire Rescue Department solemnly honors the life and service of Engineer Omar Martinez, who passed away on May 25, 2009, at the age of 46. Born in Honduras, Central America, Omar moved to Florida in 1984 and dedicated his life to serving others. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years of active duty and 16 years in the reserves. Omar went on to serve as a firefighter for 16 years at Winter Garden Fire Station 22.
Omar tragically suffered a fatal heart attack just hours after completing his shift. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, he could not be revived. His courage, commitment, and selfless service to both his country and community will forever be remembered.
