On March 14, 2024, the Winter Garden City Commission granted approval to provide a land lease, waive fees, and contribute $1.5 million towards phase two of the construction of a Boys & Girls Club facility at 459 Ninth Street. The 9,980-square-foot building will be situated on 2.44 acres and include 39 parking spaces.
The new facility is a partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida. The programs offered by the Boys & Girls Club will provide well needed services and activities for Winter Garden students in grades k-12, as well as provide an additional multi-use meeting space for utilization by community stakeholders including residents and local non-profit organizations.
A construction start date is pending a few finishing steps that need to occur first, including a lot split approval process to properly redefine the property and premises upon which the Boys & Girls Club facility will sit.
