School Zone Cameras are currently operational at the following two City of Winter Garden schools:
Esteem Academy, 12301 Warrior Road (Warning Period through March 25, 2026. Starting March 25, 2026, $100 civil citations will commence for speeding violations.)
Whispering Oak Elementary School, 15300 Stoneybrook W. Parkway (Warning Period through March 31, 2026. Starting April 1, 2026, $100 civil citations will commence for speeding violations.)
TO NOTE:
-Cameras are active 30 minutes BEFORE & AFTER a school day as well DURING THE ENTIRE length of the school day. (Only on days that school is in session.)
-Violations will be issued for driving more than 10 mph over the posted speed limit.
-A violation is a civil penalty and does NOT affect driving privileges or insurance.
Under State of Florida law approved in 2023, the use of cameras is authorized to enforce speeding violations throughout the school day. In January 2025, Winter Garden City Commissioners passed an ordinance approving the speed-detection camera system for school zones. The City of Winter Garden began implementing the program at these two local schools in January 2026 and plan to activate the program at the remaining City of Winter Garden schools during the 2026/2027 school year.
Enforced by the Winter Garden Police Department, the intent of the program is to increase the safety of children and staff in school zones by deterring speeding.
Thank you for your cooperation to observe posted school zone speed limits and to not drive distracted.
